Hisense shows off their 6.8-inch X1 phone

Just how big is too big when it comes to the phone you carry with you everyday? Depends who you ask I suppose. I can’t imagine comfortably using anything bigger than my current phone which is 5-inches, but as any Galaxy Note user might tell you, bigger is better. If that sounds like you than the Hisense X1 should be right up your alley. Coming in a mere 0.2-inches smaller than the tablet I use, this phone should fit gaming and media junkies perfectly. Not only does it have a large 1080p IPS display and what appear to be front facing speakers at the top and bottom, it has a Snapdragon 800 processor powering it for butter smooth performance. Add to that a 13-megapixel camera, 3,900mAh battery, and the newest version of Google’s Android operating system dubbed KitKat, and you have a real winner. But even though the internal components are great, the all plastic construction leaves a little to be desired. Which is why even though it has a fully loaded spec sheet Hisense has said it will be sold as a mid-range device and priced as such. No price was given, but I am sure it will be very competitive.

They fit quite a bit of high end components into the phone, but the question is can it fit in your pocket? Using it will definitely by a two handed affair, and you might draw some weird looks holding it against your head to take a call. If those are things you can make your peace with, then keep an eye for the X1 in late Q2 of this year. One thing of note is that the unlocked X1 does not have LTE, it only has HSPA+. However Hisesnse has an LTE-capable version in the pipeline for the US called the X3. It was unfortunately not on display at the show though.
