Welcome To Empty Bottle Evenings

EBE1Hello and welcome to EBE. This site is dedicated to bringing you your daily dose of tech, music, photography, and any other potential newsworthy bit we come across. We are still in the early stages of getting the page set up and content flowing but wanted to invite you now to take a look at what we have posted and also to give you an of idea what type of things to look forward to in the future. To start there are only two of us writing and we will do the best we can to write as much as possible, but we will be looking for additional contributors going forward as well to help keep the news current daily. Below are some of the ideas we have been spit balling as far as future articles are concerned. If you have ideas of your own feel free to mention them in the comments, we are here to write what you want to read after all.

Tech:

We’ll be providing updates on the latest big news in the tech segment. This is a pretty broad topic, and we intend to cover anything we can find that is relevant to the subject. So expect a very big variety in daily posts content. I promise it won’t be boring.

Hands on reviews with things like new phones, computers, and tablets as soon as they are released to help make purchasing your next one a more well informed and confident decision. We all know relying on the employees in stores for your information on something you want to buy can be a crapshoot. Often they don’t know the answers to your questions, and other times they try to push you into buying something much more expensive than what you need because they get a bigger commission. We have no incentive to write anything other than the absolute truth.

Once we’ve given you the lowdown in our reviews and you make the decision to buy something, we’ll try to address the next top priority: Price. We will post a round up of the best deals in tech that we can find. Focusing on things like computers/monitors/peripherals/software, tablets, phones/apps, cameras/lenses/accessories and any other thing that fits the category that is share-worthy.

We also aim to do some awesome product giveaways to reward our readers for visiting our site and bringing us traffic. The first of which to kick off the opening of our website will be a Google Nexus 7 tablet! There is a separate post detailing how to enter the giveaway for a chance to win it for yourself!

Moving onto Music:

There’s a lot of ground we’d like to cover here but for now here’s a couple of the things that we plan to focus on.
Weekly album recommendations. Mainly from independent and underground artists but there will also be a few bigger bands tossed in there from time to time as well. Don’t worry though we’ll steer clear of the stuff that everybody already knows is awesome. We all love Zeppelin IV and Darkside of the Moon but the idea here is to focus on rocking albums that you might not have heard yet.
Show picks and reviews. Listening to albums is great but when it comes down to it nothing beats seeing live music. We plan on giving you the lowdown on everything from local bands all the way up to touring acts and festivals.

As for Photography:

There is a lot to cover here as well. We will feature our own photos, reader submitted photos, and if there is enough interest we will also hold a monthly photo challenge for all readers to participate in. They will focus on one specific style of photography for each challenge. This will help the more experienced shooters hone their skills, and also give the more novice shooters new types and styles of photography to branch into and off of. Winners will get bragging rights until the next winner is chosen for the following competition, as well as have their winning photo featured on the cover of the post.

We are also big believers in Photoshop and Lightroom, so there will be tutorials on how to create certain effects in your images, and use some of the different tools in the programs to help get accustomed to the software in general. If you don’t already have those programs and aren’t willing to spend the few hundred dollars to get them, keep in mind if you have an Android tablet or an iPad there is a Photoshop app available for only $10 in each of their app markets. While it is not as robust as the computer version, it is a great stepping stone I highly recommend before splashing down the cash on the full Adobe suite for your computer. It will teach you the basics about using layers and effects and has some pretty good tutorials that walk you through the process.
