The Slip | Eisenhower

No I’m not talking about the NIN album or the former president; I’m talking about an album from the formerly MA based trio The Slip. The chances are you haven’t heard of them and if you have it was probably from the song ‘Even Rats’ that was featured in the first guitar hero game. However, there’s way more to them than that. Now I’m no music critic, in fact I tend to despise, so I’m not going to get to analytical with this. Eisenhower is just a straight up awesome indie rock album. Before they released this album I’d actually seen them a handful of times and listened to some of their older stuff and to be honest I really wasn’t that into them. Don’t get me wrong, they were still an excellent band but their earlier stuff was bit more jammy and jazz influenced. It just wasn’t really my bag at the time. When I first popped in Eisenhower though, I was blow away. The majority of the tracks were much edgy and more straight ahead than I expected.  It was one of those albums that really blew the doors open for me.  I remember seeing them in Boston a year or so after the album had been released and being blow away by both the new stuff and the older tunes they were ripping through.

The Drink:
Lebowskilimo
A White Russian… I don’t know why but it seems fitting. The dude abides.

The Tracks:

Sadly, if you want to see them they’ve been on hiatus for quite some time at this point but the drummer and guitarist are still playing together as The Barr Brothers and they still rip it pretty hard.
