Philly Concert Picks: September 2nd – 5th

It’s labor day weekend, the sun will be shining, the birds will be singing and I for one will be getting gloriously tanked in the woods.   However, if you’re not lucky enough to escape the burning hellscape that Philly becomes in the summer there’s some great shows happening this weekend.

Wednesday the 2nd: The Jersey Corn Pickers / Coal Town Rounders @ Bourbon and Branch

A hand full of great bluegrass bands at a great venue.   Don’t miss this one, it’s only $7 in advance.

Wednesday the 2nd: Midwestern Exposure / Ohioan / Chris Paterno Band @ Kung Fu Necktie

Folk and americana at KFN.  Ohioan is coming a long way for this one… oddly enough not Ohio though.  Either way they’re good.  Midwestern Exposure and Chris Paterno are both from right here in Philly.

Thursday the 3rd: West Philadelphia Orchestra @ Underground Arts

Philadelphia’s own Balkan Brass band, WPO don’t disappoint and you’ll be hard-pressed to find anybody doing anything remotely similar around these parts.

Saturday the 5th: August John Lutz II @ Bourbon and Branch

The EP release show for Levee Drivers front man August John Lutz II.
