Philly Concert Picks Sept. 23rd – 25th

The Pope is coming to town and shitting in everyones mouths on Saturday so there’s not a whole lot going on this weekend.  My advice is to get the hell out of dodge while you still can.  However, for the poor bastards like myself that are stuck here, there are a few good shows going down before his majesty arrives.

Wednesday the 23rd: The Mynabirds @ Boot and Saddle

The Mynabirds are fronted by Laura Burhenn, former touring member of the postal service and a great talent. We had the pleasure of speaking to a few weeks back and she’s pretty rad.   Ms. Burhenn is currently on tour in support of her latest release Lovers Know and she’ll be right here in Philly at Boot and Saddle.   Don’t miss this one, we’ll be there will you?

Thursday the 24th: Bloodpheasant / Harris Hawk / The Cloth / Worth @ Ortlieb’s

Bloodpheasant are from Providence and they play some pretty eerily dark stuff that combines a lot of genres.   I dig it.

Friday the 25th:  Dr. Dog @ Levitt Pavillion SteelStacks

I was at the final Swamp Is On show last week at Union Transfer… and holy shit it was the best show I’ve been to all summer.   Dr. Dog never disappoints.  I’d be at this one but it’s up by Allentown, I live in South Philly and it’s going to be literally impossible to get north of the city until Monday.
