Future game titles from EA unlikely on Wii U

As one of the earliest and most successful gaming companies loses appeal and support, I hope they have something really big in development right now because I would hate to see such a legacy die. But to say the launch of the Wii U and its time on sale since hasn’t gone as well as Nintendo had hoped is a drastic understatement. The console struggled to make any real impact on the gaming market right out of the gate, and have only seen sales continue in a downward spiral since then aside a brief upward swing during the holidays before flat-lining again. To add insult to injury, the release of the PS4 and Xbox One saw both consoles in their first few days of availability each hit over half the number of units sold that Wii U saw in almost an entire year of sales ahead of them. Had initial availability of those new systems not been any issue I think that number would be much higher too.

Well Nintendo was just dealt another blow as EA, one of the biggest game publishers in the market has said they have no plans to publish more titles for the Wii U. As any gamer knows, a console is only as good as the titles published for it. Losing support from such a major name like EA and their boatload of huge franchise games leaves little reason for anyone to buy Nintendo’s hardware when Sony and Microsoft already have them all as well as superior performance. Unfortunately this also extends to the 3DS, as there are no future games in the pipeline for either system. Now just to be clear, this does not mean for certain we’llĀ never see another new EA game available for the systems, but it certainly does not bode well.
