Black Sabbath | Sabotage

Ya, ya…. I know this album is old but you know what?  It still rocks hard… real fucking hard.   So just bare with me one this one, you won’t regret it.

Released in 1975 Sabotage is Sabbaths sixth studio album and in my opinion one of their most underrated.   We’ve all heard Iron Man, War Pigs and Paranoid about a thousand times and they’re great songs, don’t get me wrong, but at this point if I never heard any of those songs again I’d be fine with that.  Fourteen year old me would be punching myself (through space and time) in the face right now for even admitting that but it’s true.   There’s a lot more to Sabbath than the hits and Sabotage exemplifies that.  You’re not going to hear many tracks off this one on the radio but it’s a rock solid album start to finish.  The guitar riffs are as good as ever and there’s some really epic jams hidden in there (i.e Supertzar and The Writ).

To be honest I’m not really sure why this one never attained the iconic status of the Sabbath albums that preceded it but the cover certainly didn’t help.   I don’t know what the fuck is going on with it but Ozzy looks like Grace Slick and Bill Ward appears to be an out of shape ballet dancer… the 70’s were a weird time.    Anyways, the music holds up so who cares.
